Boston can join Brookline and Cambridge as well as 14 other cities and towns in Massachusetts to ban single-use plastic bags at our large retail stores. A city ordinance will help to keep harmful plastic out of our rivers and oceans and protect marine animals and other wildlife. It will also reduce litter in our city trees, shrubs, yards and sidewalks. We, the members of Ban the Bag Boston believe that Bostonians will welcome the change when they understand the benefits of reducing plastic in our community.
